They had no idea they were related untel the yDNA test. We need to do some
hard Irish research.
and LOL no the Gilpin surname has 4 different origins of the surname.
1. deGuylpyn Norman
2. Galpin Norman
3. MacAlpine Scots
4, MacGiffin Irish

We do not at present know which surname origin this family descends from. I
guess the next step in testing is SNP tests to try to see if they fall into
one of the lines.
