The material included in the OLD ORDER NOTES issue no. 5, Spring 1982, p37, lists only the PROMINENT surnames in the Old German Baptist Cemeteries. It does not include all surnames in the cemeteries.

As requested:

BROWN'S MILL Church Cemetery, located south of Chambersburg, PA on Rt. 11; turn east at sign pointing to Kauffman. Church on south side of road. The CARR name is not among those listed.

BENEDICT, BOYER, GARBER, GIPE, GROVE, HOLSINGER, HOOVER, KNEPPER, LEHMAN, LESHER, LOWRY, McKENZIE, ROYER, SHELLER, SMALL SOLENBERGER.


HADE Church Cemetery--three miles north of Shady Grove and two miles south of Route 316:

BAER, BENEDICT, BONEBRAKE, DEARDORFF, DETER, GEARHART, GOOD, HADE, HAGER, HARSHMAN, KELLER, MILLER, SHANK, SMALL.

PRICES Church Cemetery--11/2 miles north of Waynesboro, PA on right side of Route 316:

BAYER, BEARD, BENEDICT, BONEBRAKE, DECKER, DEWEASE, EMBLY, FITZ, GREENAWALT, HARSHMAN, HEINTZELMAN, HESS, KRAMMES, NEWCOMER, PFOUTZ, PRICE, SHANK SNOBERGER or SNOWBERGER, STRITE, WISHARD.

AMSTERDAM Church Cemetery--was located southeast of Waynesboro, PA. The remains were moved to the PRICES CEMETERY to make room for a highway. A common grave was made with names cut into a cement slab:

BENCHOFF, EMBLY, FITZ, FOX, GREEN, HOOVER, HARRISON, MORT, MURPHY, MYERS, REACHARD, SNIVELY STONER, STULL.

MT ZION Cemetery--6 miles north of Waynesboro, Pa, off Route 997, 1/8 mile west:

BAKER, BARKNER, BEATTY, BENEDICT, BUMBAUGH, DECKER, DUFFIELD, DULL, GARBER, GATES, GEESAMAN, GOOD, HARMON, HARTMAN, HEEFNER, HEGE, HELLER, HESS, HOLLINGER, KAUFFMAN, KNEPPER, LEHMAN, McFERREN, MENZER, MILLER, MOATS, MONN, NEWCOMER, OYLER, REED, ROCK, ROWE, SHOCKEY, SMETZER, SMITH, WAGAMAN, WALK.

This is all that is listed in this two-page article, besides the Gipes Grove list in previous e-mail. I have tried to type the names as given in the article. Jane Davis.
