Hello Hazel
The simple answer is that it isn't something that had crossed my mind until
now. Don't ask me why, as it is such an obvious
course to follow. She lives in the north of England and I live in the
south. I usually ring her every so often, but haven't done so for a couple
of months. I am feeling guilty about that, but I am definitely going to
ring her on Sunday (my usual day to do so) and raise the possibility and see
what comes of that.
My local LDS are certainly very helpful (and friendly) people, but they have
nothing that can help me. My major problem is that I don't know the
Canadian husband's name, not even his Christian name. I don't know where
they lived in Canada. I don't know their children's names. Until now, I
had never thought to ask my aunt about this as she married into the family
and I had assumed that she would know nothing. Even if she doesn't, her
husband's (my uncle that was) papers might reveal something.
It is believed that the marriage was in Manchester (but I haven't found one
there that fits) and was after WWII, probably about 1946. Because a
Manchester marriage seems to be a "no-no", I am working my way through all
Lancashire marriages. I thought that I might be on to something with
Warrington, but there are no Warrington marriages that fit either.
All the responses that I have had from the List, have encouraged me to press
on and to "cross my fingers" that my aunt can help. If she can, I will
"kick myself" for not asking her sooner.
Thanks. David w
