Audrey:

Enjoyed the Guardian article - I too worked with NAAFI and met my husband
whilst at NAAFI Headquarters in Brussels in 1945. I tripped on some
external high stairs and tumbled to the bottom where Gordon was just walking
by (he was on R&R from Nijmegen, Holland). He caught me and always said
afterwards that I fell for him.
What a wonderful life we had together until 1999.

Living history

Three Oaks students research, write and perform scripts about the lives of
war brides who came to P.E.I. after the Second World War and the nursing
sisters who brought them here

By Sally Cole
The Guardian

When Brianne Shea sat down to interview war bride Joyce Taylor Norring, she
couldn't believe the treasure box of memories that opened.

"Joyce is just a beautiful person. She is so funny and she's got so many
amazing stories to share," says the Grade 10 Three Oaks senior high (TOSH)
student who is writing a vignette about Norring's life.

It will be presented during Skits of Remembrance at the Summerside Legion on
Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.

"My favourite story is about how Joyce met her husband, Verner Norring, in
England. She tells it best," says Brianne, with a twinkle in her eye.

Norring worked at the NAFFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes) canteen in
her hometown of Manchester, during the Second World War
