Tea party hosted for war brides

Sixty years ago, the majority of women affectionately known as "war brides"
immigrated to Canada with their returning war hero husbands.

Many of the ladies became new workers, entrepreneurs and leaders in the
post-war era and helped provide a foundation for the next generation of
Canadians.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the war brides arrival in Canada,
Nanaimo NDP MLA Leonard Krog will be hosting an afternoon tea Friday (Oct.
6) at the Coast Bastion Inn. Tea will be served at 2:30 p.m. in the Beban
Room of the Coast Bastion Inn, located at 11 Bastion St.
