Hi again Pat

Don;t worry about not being able to remember - I'm a good deal younger than
you, and sometimes I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast :(
Let's just see if we can jog that memory.

Marine Falcon fits, she left Southampton on 15 August, which was spot on for
your dates and she was carrying a small number of brides, like she had done
for the three previous months. She'd been chartered for that very purpose.
But again, that's not to say it was your ship, and because it doesn't ring
any bells, there's a good chance it wasn't, I'd say.

Next guess - Veendam. How does that sound? Veendam had been badly damaged by
bombing in 1945, and had been newly refitted for civilian passengers, so
might have looked quite smart inside. She left Southampton on 16th August,
but passengers may well have boarded on 15th. She was heading for New York,
but I've got no record of whether or not she was carrying war brides.

A bit early - leaving on 12 August was De Grasse, another newly refitted
ship. She was on the Le Havre to New York run, but she called in to
Southampton on 12th August. Do you remember lots of French-speaking
passengers? She's a possible, but the bottom of the list.

Any help?
