Women head for Canada in 1940s

When Jean Wallace met a navy serviceman 10 years her senior in 1944,
she knew they were destined for a wartime romance.
Then 20 years old and living in her native Sheffield, England, Wallace
was sent to deliver a package to him but she was late. When he saw her, the
first thing he said was that she would have to do better when they got
married.
