Local war brides say they're happy with their newly declared provincial
recognition, even if it's a bit late.

Jim Bradley, Ontario's minister responsible for seniors, announced at
Queen's
Park June 13 the province has designated 2006 as the Year of the War Bride,
honouring those who married Canadian troops of the Second World War.

"These women left a legacy carried on by families in every part of the
province," said Bradley. "They did it all and they did it well, and they did
it with grace and courage."
