Tales of War

The story of Estevan resident Ivy Hitchcock is similar to that of a lot of
war brides living in Canada.

Born in Britain, Hitchcock met a Canadian soldier from Estevan, Cecil,
during the Second World War. They were married in 1942, and they will
celebrate their 64th anniversary this year. Her home was damaged when
Hitler's German forces bombed London during the war.

But unlike many war brides, she left Britain before the war ended. She
immigrated to Canada in 1944, and spent several months in Canada without her
husband.
