Thanks Joyce for your memories of being an inexperienced young housewife,
at least I didn't have a brooder on the kitchen table, but my husband did
ask me if I wanted a chicken for dinner and I said, "Yes". "Then I'll go and
get an axe," he said. I nearly died of shock. I didn't think he would lop
the head off one of those innocent chickens running around the back yard,
but he did. I can still hear the 'thunk' of the axe on the back 'stoop'
outside our bedroom window. Then came the cleaning and de-feathering, what a
mess!
I am unsubbing for a few days to go and meet Bev Tosh and my daughter in
Calgary.
