Hi, Melynda, I did speak to my MLA and the leader of the opposition
provincially and have received encouraging responses. It would be good if
someone with a BC Liberal MLA made a pitch as well. We are optimistic that
we will elect a NDP MP this time around - the fellow running for the
Conservatives is the one that Harper just dumped for smuggling. I am
working on the campaign and know our man so will be on his case as soon as
we know he is in. I am sure our Mayor will go for this here in Nelson as I
know him quite well and have several friends among the new councillors. One
of them is Metis and was thrilled with the story of the NB MLA, as was our
constituency assistant and the leader of the opposition both of whom are
part First Nations. Will keep you posted. Joan
