Hi Jean, I'm sorry for the replying sooner, but the Christmas season has kept me very busy. I will try to answer your questions below.
wrote: Hello, Michele! I was extremely surprised to see my name on the today's
e-mail list. Where do we find the book ? Am so interested.
Sorry, I don't understand, which book? I have a very large lists on my website, so I'm not sure which one you are interested in.
In spite of replying to several writers on the subject of "WarBrides" this
is the first time that we have seen a message to the efffect that anything that
I wrote has been published. So....!!!!!
Your story was in sent to me, when you filled out my questionnaire a few years back.
Now that I am widowed, and eighty=three, and have cut down on much, much
community service volunteering, I would have the time and be interested in
pursuing any leads that you have on written material. also references to same ,if
you can lead me back through e-mail correspondence and/or leads.
Are you asking for help in writing a book?
I do follow your list communications;find them very interesting and worthy of
high praise in their dedication and quality. In my own case I was one of two
brides(and not at the same time) who met their American husband away from our
home town-which was a safe area for evavuees from the Newcastle and
Northumberland schools(around 1940's) till we were bombed ourselves !
I met my husband when I volunteered to help in an agricrultural
project in one of the villages in Northamptonshire, next to the U.S.
airfields; although I did not know that at the time. When we were married, at the end
of the war in 1945, there had been another local girl marry an American from
Mass., thus there were two of us, and consequently, there being only two,
there were very few contacts to us, and about us, and no organizaations of any
sort to keep us informed. It was not until I got on the computer, some years
ago, that I found out about all the activities going on-elsewhere. Nevertheless,
we still have our memories; have travelled back to our home land over a score
Yes, my mother feels the same way. She would have enjoying having an organization to join in the 50's and 60's.
ot times, taken all the children and grandchildren- individually- to see
their roots, and am keenly interested in all news and actions that take place with
the War-Brides.
So, do keep us informed, and thank you so much for all that
you have previously accompliished. Well done!!!! Carry On!!!
Cheers! Jean Camm iin beautiful Virginia.
Thank you and have a Very Merry Christmas and New Year. All us War babies are proud of all our War Brides.
