Sorry, everyone, I gave incorrect information re the above. We misunderstood the audio with the exhibit in Kelowna. In fact, the portrait Bev did of her mum is in the War Museum in Ottawa already. My youngest daughter and her husband were in Ottawa last week and saw it. We thought the audio comment referred to the entire exhibit.
By the way, has anybody else watched the DVD 'Let's Pier into the Past'? It is done by Joy Forbes and her students (plus a few adults) and refers to Pier 21. It is quite amazing. I have had it for a while but just got around to seeing it from start to finish yesterday (new machine I couldn't cope with before), and it is both sad and funny - I loved the little boys in their cut down army uniforms with the crotches around their knees. The original music was excellent and I was really pleased with the spirited rendering of the War Bride song from the Lady Rodney - having been one of brides who sang that on the way over!
