As usual, when we put our heads together, we can do wonderful things!
OK, Annette, please write to me off line and I'll try to contact Alan and
either confirm he is our "Billy Mitchon" or not.
Just to let you know, I have been talking with Andreas, whose mother was the
World War Two CWAC photographer. They're both going to be very very excited
to find out that we may have traced little "Billy" from 60 years ago.

Hi Melynda
Annette has also found a possible phone number for Alan. If you contact her,
she will let you have it. I think an article would be great, but maybe
contact this person first to see if it is him - if it is, he'd probably be
thrilled and what a story that would make!
As for the mother's maiden surname possibly being Walker - (thank you again
Annette) - this makes it look very likely. There isn't an Alan Hitchon or
Mitchon in the UK birth indexes but the Alan G Grant was spot on age-wise -
and the mother's maiden name was Slinger. But that was always going to be a
little tenuous. I wonder if the marriage and the birth of Alan was in
Scotland... Grant is a common name in Scotland.
This is getting fascinating!
