Annette has also found a possible phone number for Alan. If you contact her,
she will let you have it. I think an article would be great, but maybe
contact this person first to see if it is him - if it is, he'd probably be
thrilled and what a story that would make!
As for the mother's maiden surname possibly being Walker - (thank you again
Annette) - this makes it look very likely. There isn't an Alan Hitchon or
Mitchon in the UK birth indexes but the Alan G Grant was spot on age-wise -
and the mother's maiden name was Slinger. But that was always going to be a
little tenuous. I wonder if the marriage and the birth of Alan was in
Scotland... Grant is a common name in Scotland.
This is getting fascinating!
