I requested a copy of my fathers service file in 2002. He was deceased not
quite 2 years at that time. I was able to quote his Regimental number when I
requested the file because I have his soldier service book. The file
included 22 pages but did not indicate whether it was the full file or not.
He was in the service for 2 1/2 years. They did, however, black out certain
sections in his file, including his Pulhems profile (not that I know what
that even is).
I liked reading his file because he joined shortly after graduating from
grade 10 so it showed the things he was interested in as an 18 year old,
plus the jobs he worked at since leaving school and how much he was paid. It
also shows the type of training he got before he returned to civilian life.
