Hello Trish!

SAWCHUK is the birth surname of my uncle Michael who married the war bride.
My mother, his sister, also had the same surname which is confirmed with her
birth certificate. She was 3 yrs. older than him. This surname makes it so
frustrating in this search. The last time he saw my mother he was on his way
to enlist and his name was still Mike (Michael) Sawchuk (originally spelled
Sawczuk on his birth certificate). The family spelled it as Sawchuk. I
searched under both spellings and its variations. I suppose it is possible he
changed his name on joining the service or during. However, nobody knows if he
did or what he would have changed it to. And the wedding photos were taken by
Regent Studios of Swan Lane, Guildford, Surrey. Of course the photographer
could have travelled to other communities to do wedding photos. This was
stamped on the back of the photos by the studio. They are now out of business and
the photographers I contacted in Guildford knew nothing further of them or
gave me any other leads to follow in that line. Yes, myself and you and
numerous others have gone through the marriage records to no avail, which is why I
published the photos in the hope someone would recognize the people in the
photos or the church. No luck to date. Thanks so much for still keeping tabs
on this. I appreciate the encouragement. With the 60th anniversary gone by
I kept hoping....

Best regards,
Muryl aka Marlene in Vancouver
