I put the question to Valerie regarding her use of the term "Flower Girl"
this is her reply:


....."we didn't use the term "flower girl" did we.... I can remember my
mother telling me that when Eunice and Russell came to tell us that they were
going to get married - it was Russell who said "... and we would like Valerie to
be our flower girl!" My Mum had no idea what he meant.... as we only used
bridesmaid as you astutely recalled!"

Russell was a Canadian serviceman, so it was him that introduced it to
Valerie.
