Dear Jean,

Thank you so much for responding to my e-mail. I am rather new at this and find it all so interesting. As I stated, my mom tells some really great stories about her childhood, the war and the trip over on the HG. They slept on hammocks for heaven's sake! What date did you sail for the US? My mom sailed on April 3d, I believe, docking in NY on the 12th. She settled in a little town in WI by the name of Stanley. My mom still has a very good friend who is now living in England. She is 95 years old and has a daughter living in CA. Molly still travels over here to visit her, can you imagaine at that age!

What branch of the service was your husband in? My dad was in the Army, 5th Division, Red Diamonds. He passed away in 1971 at the age of 57 from complications of Parkinson'd Disease. A very sad hard ordeal for him and our family.

I will be seeing my mom tomorrow and I will get some information from her and we can go from there. What I am trying to do now is get some help about how to try to locate a cousin who may still be alive in Belfast. I would also like to read the obituaries on my grandparents who died in the 50's in Belfast. Being that my mom was an only child make things a wee bit harder, but I am really trying to do this for her for her 86th birthday, which is Oct 6.

Thank you again,

As Ever,

Catherine
