Hi David,
From a purely genealogical perspective, you might want to check for church
records in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Most likely the baptism of the child
Vivien might contain some information for 1951. Also, you could check to
see if there were any local directories - something like Lovell (I think
that is the one that was in Quebec, in Saskatchewan they were Henderson's
directories) which may include an address, the occupation of the husband and
where he might have worked. If you know where Peter's family lived, there
might be additional information on the wedding in the Canadian paper if it
was a smaller centre. Also, if they came by ship you might have access to
some information through Pier 21 records, although 1951 is rather recent for
the release of some information. If you are a direct descendent and can
prove this, you could contact National Archives of Canada to request his
military record if he has been deceased for more than 20 years. Having his
serial number would make this more likely. Try the Royal Canadian Legion's
Last Post website, as if he was in the Canadian Forces and possibly a member
of the legion, they would likely have information on his date of death and
which branch of the service in which he served. All of these may not give
you the full story but can give you bits and pieces to assist you further in
putting together information on their story. In the 1950s, my parents were
with the Canadian Armed Forces serving overseas and travelled between Europe
and Canada by ship with their effects. Air travel was more likely for a
trip that did not involve moving of households.
Hope this gives you some assistance, and that other's have more suggestions
of where to look, or perhaps had some contact with the McCallums.
Michelle

1945, aged 28, he married in Plymouth, Devon, England, Dulcie Ruby GILES,
who was also born in 1917 but in Hampshire.
> Their first child, Angela, was born in 1947 in a village near where Dulcie
was born, possible at her mother's home. In 1949 a second child, Ian, was
born now in Canada, and in 1951 a third child, Vivien, was born in Pointe
Claire, Quebec.
> I appreciate that their marriage certificate would tell me
if Peter was in the Canadian Armed Forces, and Angel's birth certificate
will tell me what Peter's occupation was in 1947, but I am also intersted in
their journey to Canada, and their life there. I would apprecate any
guidance.
