I have been watching this Canadian/US thread develop very carefully - I've
let it go on until now because I hoped it would die its own death. It is now
at risk of taking off and becoming something which I am sure none of us
want, and which I am certainly not prepared to allow on this mailing list.

We are all here because of a common interest - Warbrides. It matters not one
jot who married who, nor what nationality either party was. It is about
sharing the same experiences.

I have no control over the messages which appear on this list - I don't see
the messages any quicker than the rest of the subscribers. I allowed Joan's
earlier message to go without comment because I believe she was really
essentially explain the differences but I hope she now realises that some of
her words were extremely tactless and bound to be viewed as very unkind by a
large number of the subscribers. I hope and believe that no malice was
intended but I was holding my breath for a response.

Pam, you were perfectly entitled to make your point strongly but you have
overstepped the mark by your rude and abusive tone. I am happy for people to
put their own views and there are bound to be differences of opinion,
sometimes perhaps quite strong disagreements; there is nevertheless no room
for remarks such as you made, and the general tone of the whole email was
unacceptable. This is what is known in mailing list jargon as 'flaming' ....
that is being rude and abusive to another subscriber.

I can't allow it to continue. If anyone wishes to contribute in a calm and
non-confrontational manner they may do so, otherwise this thread must end
NOW.

And please - absolutely no way will I allow any discussions whatsoever about
Iraq or any other current conflict. It is simply OFF TOPIC to warbrides -
political threads are not allowed under any circumstances under Rootsweb
rules.
