My mother came from England to the United States the first week of 1946
on a
converted troop ship as a War Bride. Her name is Grace Jones,with her
married name
being Edington. My father was a soldier in World War II. and he met my
mother
while stationed in England. She remembers coming thru the port of New
York and
barely seeing the Statue of Liberty as the was pregeant at the time and
very sick.
She says that she thought that the name of the ship she came over was
the
Venezuela, but is not sure.
If anyone has any information on this ship or came over when my mother
did we
would love to hear from you. She says that their were alot of other War
Brides
on this ship.
