I agree with much of J. Goodwin's letter, but remember that there are people - like me - who cannot get to an LDS to order the UK Marriage Index and look it up. Oh, I wish! However, we should all have a short check-list for sending requests to a list, to remind us to give all the info that we can. So:
Peggy (probably Margaret) and Pat (probably Patricia) OLLARD were two sisters who married Canadian soldiers during WW11 or soon after. Father Jack (probably John) Ollard, mother's name unknown. Our grandparents were brother and sister, but we never saw their family. They lived somewhere in London, probably Islington.
Family originally from West Meath, Ireland, but they would probably not have known that, as I have only recently found that out myself. That is all I know of them, except that they were evacuated to Devon during the early war years. I simply found a reference to them in a wartime letter written by Jack's brother Harry (probably Henry) to my mother in which he says that he had been visited by Jack's wife who sent her condolences to us as my brother had just been killed How sad to read this so many years later - sympathy expressed by someone never known, and not that distantly related. Harry mentions the girls, and again in another letter, and that is literally all I know of them!
Did I say short check list? Anyway - anybody know Peggy and Pat, who would be verging on their eighties by now, as they are a little older than I, I think.
Go well! Ivy Trott
