Subject: [WARBRIDES-L] British war bride - WOOLMAN married DUNCAN

I'm hoping to find out more about my unknown mother-in-law, Peggy WOOLMAN,
who married David Gordon Alexander DUNCAN in June 1944 in Surrey.

She and her husband divorced in 1949 and, whether due to the laws of the
day or other, her husband took the children and she was effectively shut
out of their lives. Whether there was reason or not is unknown. Her
details are:

Peggy WOOLMAN, born in Leicester, Leicestershire 14 January 1920. Family
residence at the time was 30 Erskine Street in Leicester. Her father was
Arthur WOOLMAN, a butcher, and her mother was Elizabeth JAKINS. She had a
younger sister, Barbara Ann, who married a gentleman named LUMB and had a
son, David.

She married Walter HARRIS at some time prior to 1944, and was divorced when
she married David DUNCAN. The children of that marriage were David John
(born in England in 1944) and Barbara Ann (born in Canada in 1948). She
came to Canada with David in 1946 and went to the family residence at
Currie Street in Toronto. She and David later moved to the Barrie area and
the family broke up around 1948.

We reached David LUMB last year, and discovered Peggy had married again -
he thinks the man's name was Robert (Bob) RALSTON, but wasn't sure. He
also wasn't sure about other children - he thought she had some with
RALSTON, and possibly with Walter HARRIS. He said she had died in Toronto,
but wasn't sure when.

If anyone has any information about Peggy, and her family(ies), we'd
appreciate hearing from them.

Of note - David DUNCAN's brother Gordon also married a British war bride,
and the family ended up in Victoria, on Vancouver Island. We'd also like
very much to contact anyone in that family.

Many thanks

Karin Duncan
