Hi Marion,
I didn't see a reply for your request. I took a look at Joseph's draft card
registration and it looks like he registered Sept. 12, 1918. Joseph declares
himself an alien which means he wasn't a citizen of the U.S. so I don't know
if he would have been called up for any active duty......also since his age
is
listed as 42 yrs. old, he probably wouldn't have been sent on active duty
either.
When I checked the census years for him, I searched indexes for the whole
US. There are FRANCIS families listed in Utah census indexes but the only
Lucile listed is 5 yrs. old in 1920.
The 1920 index lists a Lucy Mabier, age 35, born England, living with a
Charles & Ethel WILLIS family in Stockton, California. She says she's
married, but there's no husband listed with her. She says she immigrated 1907,
she's
an Alien, and works as a Pantry woman in a restaurant.
I also checked entries for Lucy, Lucie, Lucile, Mabry, Mabray Maybery but
nothing looked like a match.
For your general information, the 1920 index shows only 2 MABIRE families in
the US, both in Florida.
Daniel MABIRE, age 27 living in Pensacola, Escambia Co., FL with wife and
2 children.
Victor MABIRE, age 30 also living in Pensacola, Escambia Co., FL with wife
and
2 children.
The 1930 index shows one MABIRE famile in the US:
Charles MABIRE age 33, also living in Pensacola, Escambia Co., FL with
wife and 5 children.
Other census years that show MABIREs are:
1880 - a Mary MABIRE in Mississippi
1870 - 8 MABIREs living in Androscoggin County, Maine, 7 of them born in
Canada, one born in Maine
I'm sorry there isn't any other information showing up for the MABIRE
surname.

Good morning:
I have written before but need to know if you can help me further.
Joseph Charles Mabire was found in the WW1 Draft Registration for
1917-1918 in Utah. The draft was signed September. He said his next of
kin was Lucie Francis Mabire. I am presuming this is a wife. He was a
farmer in Elberta, Utah.
I believe someone looked a couple of census up for me and did not find
him.
Seeing Lucie's second name is Francis, spelt with an i instead of an e, I
am wondering if this might be a maiden name. Do you know if there are
Francis families in Utah please and if she might be found in an earlier
census prior to her marriage. I have no idea when they married.
I have found him jumping ship in Australia 1902, but he not found
anywhere there either. now looking for how he found his way to
Utah...and if not found in Utah, where he might have gone...who knows is
anyone guess.
Is there a possibility that he might have been called up with the draft
to go any place......not up to date with US history as I am British.
When you checked for the census was that for all US census or just for
Utah.
I do appreciate your help
Marion Mabire
