Hello Everyone,

When I first joined the Ontario list I thought I was searching for
U.E.L. in my family. Well my James HAMILTON did not come to Canada till
1836 did fight in 1837 for the Crown. But that is too late for
Bunkerhill.

My GORDON family was born ?

Second Marriage
William B. GORDON to Elizabeth WALKER(nee HAMILTON)July 09, 1883 Yarker
Camden Ontario, Canada

I am not sure if William was born in Ontario or Scotland or Ireland? He
is buried with his first wife Catherine SHARPE birth Ireland in Yarker
death January 28, 1897

The granddaughter of William & Elizabeth was given this lovely bread
plate when she married told to be proud she was Canadian. Her ancestors
fought for her?
Plate description

Prescott 1776 Stark on top rim top
Inner rim The hero's of Bunkerhill
Center Picture of Bunkerhill Monument Words each side Birthplace of
liberty
Bottom inner rim The spirit of seventy-six
Bottom outer rim Warren 1876 Putnam
Handles each side looks like a shield.

Has anyone any ideas on this, of course the story is passed down but the
plate now is in my possession (I saved it going to the Sally Ann) I
would love to know just what this all meant in relation to my family.
I visited Boston and when I was on the tour bus I saw the tip of
Bunkerhill and asked if we were going to see it the tour guide was not
impressed with me as she said it was the only battle they lost in the
war why would I want to see it! I have a lovely picture from a fellow
lister of it.

Would anyone like to share some light on this? Mary from Surrey BC
Canada
