Subject: [UPP-CAN] Lanark Settlers Scoiety

Can any one help me find out about Lanark Settlers Society? It is my
impression that some sort of charitable society (based perhaps in
Scotland) assisted settlers from Lanarkshire, Scotland to Lanark County,
Ontario. My ancestor David BALLANTYNE born abt 1789 in Glasgow, Lanark,
Scotland was a weaver who came to Lanark County, Ontario in 1820.
Possibly he could have been assisted by such a society.
