"Free Church" undoubtedly refers to the Free Church of Scotland (sometimes known in the UK as "The Wee Free's"). P.E.I. is the only province which has several Free Church of Scotland congregations. The most striking aspect of their services (at first) is the complete absence of hymns and instrumental music. The psalms are sung acappella and the worshipers are led in singing by a precentor. This practice is known as the exclusive psalmnody. There is a congregation in Toronto. You may check them out at: http://www.reformed.com/epcc/welcome.htm .
