Re Kettle Island:
it is in Quebec side of the Ottawa River, between Ottawa and Gatineau in
Quebec. I'm pretty sure that no one lives there now; maybe there were
cottages once? It is shown as park on the map. It may be owned by the
National Capital Commission which oversees lots of "beautification" projects
around the capital region. It is also in their plans for another bridge
across the Ottawa River a project which has been the subject of much
controversy, but mostly because of the disruption to neighbourhoods in
Ottawa. Hope this helps.

Hi folks,

I just wanted to say I tried the sight recommended by one of the listers for
upper-canada info and it is great!! If you missed this it was
www.canadiana.org. I got into this sight and found another listing for my
Eleazar Gillson in some land records dating back to 1818 regarding "Kettle
Island". The date of this document was actually recorded in 1875 so I'm
thinking it must have been some of his descendants trying to straighten a
problem out dealing with the Indians "leasing "our Eleazar "Kettle
Island"..very interesting reading.
Question, can anyone tell me exactly where Kettle Island is or was? It was
supposedly ancient hunting grounds for the Indians and it turns out the
Indians had no right to "lease" this property. Was "Kettle Island" near
Hull, Buckingham, Little Nation?
