Thank you Joan for your nice comments they are appreciated. I think you have good suggestions here. There will be a name index with surname and first name. I agree with you in the books that I have seen before many surpassed the word count to tell their stories and many stayed within the word limit and it was not a problem. This is the fourth county heritage book that I have participated in and they are very informative. I had roots in the other three counties I participated in. I am participating in the Dickson County book because I have resided here twenty nine years. I have seen the Benton County Book and it is a very nice book. It was done by a different publisher and that publisher did the book for Bedford County in which my father-in-law was the chairman for that book.
If the list members did not see the post of last evening detailing information about the book, send me an email off the list and I will get back with you.
The Dickson County book will be published by Walsworth Publishing Company (www.Ancestry.TV). Walworth Publishing has done many books in Tennessee. They have just completed a book for Lincoln County in which all the initial orders were filled, 500 consigned copies were sold out within 3 weeks of release of the book and now they are printing 500 more copies. Besides Lincoln County they have published books in Grundy, Warren, Coffee, Moore, Loudon and Gibson Counties and they are about to go to the printer with the Giles County Book. They also did some books for some of the counties in upper East Tennessee. They are also doing books in Virginia, Georgia, West Virginia and some other states.
We have many people in Dickson County that are working on the committee. These include business leaders, The County Historian, The County Archivist, The County Genealogist, The History Room Supervisor at The Dickson County Library, The President of the Historical Society, a former State Senator's wife, WDKN Radio Personality of "Old Timers" and "Know Your County" Programs. The people in Dickson County are very excited about the book.
This committee will seek to have published the best product available and it will be your book and will be as good as the stories that you submit. Again the web site for the book is http://www.dicksontnheritage.com/index.htm.
Please feel free to contact me for further help or information.
Thank you!
