This is an update to info on the Sinks in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
SINKS, OWENS, SHELTON, JONES, PERRY
I, Madeline WANAMAKER ROBERTS, am interested in information on Green Berry
SINKS (about 1822 - 1906) and his descendants. Green Berry SINKS was born in
Tennessee (probably Montgomery County or Dickson County) and lived on the East
Fork of Yellow Creek before moving to District 5 in Humphreys County, TN,
between 1850 1860. He may have been related to Drury/Drewry Sinks (born
about 1810) who was in Dickson County, TN, in 1850 and to Jesse Sinks who was
in Montgomery County, TN, in 1820 and in Dickson County, TN, in 1840 according
to U.S. federal census records found at Ancestry.com. Green Berry was married
twice -- to Elizabeth Betsy BEARD SINKS (about 1820 1855???) and to
Elizabeth BROWN MARBERRY SINKS (about 1817 1901???). Green Berry lived on
White Oak Creek in the Woolworth Community of Humphreys County.

William Hartwell Hart SINKS (7-14-1844 2-23-1928) Married Mary Martha
ROBBINS Doanie SINKS OWENS who may have moved to Memphis, Tennessee, Shelby

Elizabeth Nora SINKS JONES (4-17-1854 5-9-1914) Married James Pierce JONES
on 11-19-1873 in Houston County, TN Mary SINKS (1856 2-4-1944) Never married
George W. SINKS (4-6-1860 9-1-1912) Married Pollie Ann RICHARDSON (2-15-1855
11-7-1921) Willie L. SINKS (12-28-1863 7-22-1864).
The 1880 U.S. federal census shows a Fredonie SINKS who was born about 1859 to
G. B. & Elizabeth SINKS.
NOTE: The 1860 U.S. federal census shows the names G. B. Sinks (age 39 -
1821), Elizabeth Sinks (age 40 - 1820), Eliza Sinks (age 18 - 1842), Robert R.
Sinks (age 15 - 1845), Louisa Sinks (age 14 - 1846), Hartwell Sinks (age 12 -
1848), Levina Sinks (age 8 - 1852), Lenora Sinks (age 7 - 1853), John Sinks
(age 5 - 1855), Fredrica Sinks (age 2 - 1858), and Marita Sinks (age 10.12 -
1859).
William Hart SINKS was my great grandfather; he married Mary Martha ROBBINS
(12-16-1854 2-17-1938). Their children were:
Mollie Eliza SINKS (9-25-1885 3-12-1894) Unsure about dates. Lesia Elizabeth
(Bettie) SINKS PERRY (9-9-1887 6-2-1978) Married Oliver Ross PERRY, a
HICKMAN and a BOWLING Eddie (Ed) SINKS (4-28-1889 5-18-1969), my
grandfather. Married Ivy Nora BLANKENSHIP (3-22-1891 4-26-1989) Fountain
(Fount) William Pierce SINKS (10-11-1894 2-18-1978) Married Lillie Bell
BLANKENSHIP (11-10-1894 9-12-1985) Married 7/1919.

According to notes that I have, J. Pierce JONES and E. Nora SINKS JONES had
six children:

JONES (5-7-1879 9-6-1947) Married Harris Howell HOOPER (father of Howell,
Rex, and Ralph) William JONES (1-31-1882 2-28-1925) George Berry JONES
(5-4-1884 2-10-1954) Marie Ida JONES (11-30-1892 7-2-1897).
I believe that Doanie SINKS OWENS children were:
Cora OWENS who may have lived in Memphis, TN, Shelby County Fount OWENS who
may have lived in Memphis, TN
I believe that Lysanne SINKS SHELTONs children were:
Marsh SHELTON (who married Ida TRINKLE and lived in Erin, TN, Houston County)

The Sinks Cemetery is located in the Woolworth Community of Humphreys County,
TN, north of Waverly, on North White Oak Road on the right side at the top of
the hill in a fenced in field just off of Highway 13, north of Waverly, TN.
George W. SINKS and Pollie Ann SINKS, who died in Shelby County, TN, are
buried in another Sinks Cemetery about 3 or 4 miles further up White Oak Creek
from Highway 13, north of Waverly, TN.
Note: Green Berry SINKS may have had a brother named Alfred whose name
appeared in U. S. federal census records for District 5 in Humphreys County,
TN, in 1860, 1870, and 1880. I know they were related. According to the 1860
census, he was 37 years old; he must have been born in 1823, and his wife was
Margaret/Margarette SINKS who was 26 years old; she must have been born in
1834. Census records for 1870 gives Margarets birth date at about 1827.
According to 1880 census records, their children were Warren W. SINKS (1853 -
1888), Russell SINKS (1855 - 1892), Fannie SINKS (born about 1861), and
Forrest SINKS (born about 1866). Census records for 1860 and 1870 also list an
Amizon/Amozon SINKS (born about 1851). The 1860 census lists a Martha SINKS,
age 2, born in 1858.
Warren (W. W.) SINKS (1853 1888) and Russell SINKS (1855 1892) and other
SINKS family members are buried about 3 or 4 miles up White Oak Creek from
Highway 13, North, Waverly, TN, Humphreys County. The address for that area is
McEwen, TN. The cemetery can also be reached from Highway 231 out of McEwen.
