My great-great grandmother Charlotte Jane Batson was born in 1821 in
Tennessee. She married James Thompson, and a statement from a family member
says that they migrated from Bear Creek, Tennessee to Belleview Valley,
Missouri around 1848. The only two Batsons I find in the 1820 census for
Tennessee are Thomas in Montgomery County and Richard in Dickson. Since it
appears that there was a Bear Creek community in Dickson County, I'm going
to start first with Richard, trying to determine if he could have been
Charlotte's father. Can anyone tell me if birth records are available for
that time period, and if so, who do I contact to request a search?
