Nancy sent me a copy of James Johnstons Rev. War Application "WOW""""::::: Well tonight I got to start breaking it down into Key words and Times.I haven't finished the whole thing but three things stood out like a ton of BRICKS>
#1: James Johnston:::Battle of Guilford Courthouse ::he rounded up 12 veterans one being GEorge Hannah:::This battle started on march 15 1781:::after he returned from this Battle::He states in the application " Then I returned back to stay a few days with my mother and father, then in CHARLOTTE COUNTY VIRGINIA"
Question who are known Veterans of Charlotte Co. who served at Guilford Courthouse that have prior service HIstorys?:::Need to check Dar Chapter in Charlotte Co. see if any one matches.
#2: He then states he rested a few days at home with my mother and Father I heard of the distress of Fayettte in VA. Arnold & Phillips was raising him at a sad rate & destroying & doing great damage in Va. I took right of to Fayette assistance & as soon as Cornwallice came to Virginia & fixed himself in York town we strove hard to keep him there till Gen"ll Washington come & when Gen'l come I could see by Gen'll Washingtons looks that he was uneasy::: well now to shorten this James Johnston was wounded in the knee. He stayed after this battle ten days and took off with George Hannah to Jamestown, where James Johnstons father meet him with a carriage. This battle ended on Oct 20 1781..
#3: So James Johnstons mother and Father are in Charlotte County very much alive between march `5 1781 and Oct 20 1781:::WHO are the Johnson-Johnston of Charlotte Co.Va. in this time period?
Also of Note Dr. John Robertson knew James Johnston per his written statements on James Johnston before he was wounded and after he was wounded.
James Johnston served as an Adjutant under COl.Mumford at Battle of Guilford Co.NC
Who is Edward Eanes who served with James Johnston at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse?
Who is Col.Sam Venable formely of Prince Edward Co.?
Hannahs are related to Robertson family thru Susannah Cunningham abt 1752 AUgusta Co.Va married to Charles Robertson "Colonel" and Ann Cunnigham married to Andrew Hannah b. 1754 Lunenburg Co.Va died 1793::Parents of ANdrew in Dispute:::Susannah Cunnigham is the Aunt to Ann Cunnigham.
Col. Charles Robertson is the brother of General James Robertson who came and lived on Bartons Creek in Dickson Co. ::: his brother Mark Robertson married Mary Hunter Bell. (um Montgomery Bell on Bartons Creek in 1790's also):::they also have a brother John Robertson born abt 1748::: The Robertsons all come from John Robertson and Eliza Randolph:::::Um isn't Randolph a name on Tuckahoe Creek.( No connection as of yet Found to this Family of Randolph's)
Note prior e-mails William Johnston property of 1779??? same aces and stream location sold by Samuel in 178??
Then Hudson Johnson living with William Johnson and then again in a tithable with James Johnson ( 1778-1780) in Henry Co.
I will be glad when Nancy gets that DNA test back on her Johnson-Johnston kinsman.
Tony
