I just wondered if anyone out there had any information about the Civil War
and the Yellow Creek area??? A neighbor was telling me that
his great grandfather told him that their family home on Cedar Creek Road
outside of Vanleer
was burned by Union Soldiers in the 1860's and later rebuilt. The next farm
down at the time from this fellow's family was my husband's Gilmore's. We
have always wondered why we have found so many pieces of dishes, crockware
etc. in the field there, as we never knew of a house there. NOW, I wonder if
there could have been one there and it was burned by the Union Soldiers too?
Does anyone have any information that might help me here?
Thanks!
Caroline
