Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season!!!! It is going by so
fast , I just wish I could slow down time a little bit this week and stretch
out how long I am able to have my family here to visit over the holidays!!!
Any of you who are searching the GILMORE or related lines might be
interested to know that the old original homestead of Matthew Gilmore built
circa 1795 on Cedar Creek Road outside of Vanleer has had the clapboards
removed and is down to the original hand hewn logs from when Matthew built
it. If you are in the area and are interested in checking it out, drive by
soon!!! The owners have sold the old home to have it removed from their
property and set up somewhere else. I can't tell you all how heart sick I
was when I found out it had been sold and I didn't get a chance to try and
buy it myself!!!!!! I contacted the new owner in hopes he might sell it to
us, but unfortunately, that is not to be the case!!! So, I'll just have to
be happy with memories and photographs. I had so hoped that one day when it
ever came up for sale we might have a chance at trying to get it, but it
just wasn't in the cards for us. I hope the new owners try and preserve as
much as they can of it!!! Happy Holidays everyone!
