Okay----the cat has a collar with a bell. I tired a regular "cat collar"
but it isn't helping----she sits perfectly still until the birds actually
land within striking distance of her! (Maybe they deserve what they get?)
I've thought about getting a slightly larger bell like the one my parrot
played with and putting it on her collar. I'm not worried so much about the
collar catching on anything because she doesn't leave the yard to hunt--and
she doesn't stay outside long or at night unless I'm with her.

I also have hawks and owls but they haven't bothered anything in years. The
baby hawks bathe in a small wading pool that used to belong to Heather
(she's too big for it now). It's nothing unusual to see them sitting on the
deck rail---and every morning they are sit in a tree outside my bedroom
window until I leave the bedroom. The owl's nest is about 50' from my deck
and greenhouse---it sits there every afternoon and watches me! (The only
problem I've had was when Donald, Matilda, and Gertrude came up
missing----they were Brittany's duck and hens and it wasn't a good thing
when she went to their pen and only found feathers.)

I think I'll try a slightly larger bell on her collar and I'll see if I can
get the grandkids to keep Midnight in the house unless they are willing to
watch her when she's outside----and when we see her sitting like a statue,
we will just have to take her inside!

Thanks to all who responded!

Sandy
