Sharon Kay,
I am the list owner, Cheryl Adams(aka Cher or Chief Digger). I buried my
Dad this past December 20th, after a year long battle with cancer. He was
my dearest companion and friend. I do understand your losses. Dad and I
cared for my Mother in 1994 when she died. I still cannot believe they are
gone. Sure I KNOW it intellectually.. I just cant believe I am HERE and
they aren't...and I have to go it alone.... I too am an only child..no
husband or children. I adored my parents and they adored me... I was so
blessed to be loved by them... and be able to return it.
The lists I own were wonderful. . I was sometimes overwhelmed with the
caregiving and the sense of loss. Many MANY days or nights during Dad's
illness my web friends helped me through it... they prayed, talked ..cried
and gave me hope for tomorrow. The Web has much good to offer.. and even
though we are a genealogically based list.... we are humane... we are loving
and kind..and prayerful people. WE KNOW the power of His love and we use
it.
BTW, we do have a sister list called Dickson Diggers. It is for silly stuff
and recipe swapping, long discussions on anything that comes to mind....
reminessing... or story swappin. You may want to join that list too.
And Mollie is my left hand 'person'... she will be my right hand soon! We
also call her my 'Mean Lil Assistant'....<g>
I hope you are patient. You may not get the help you want today... but
tomorrow? WHO KNOWS!<g>
Cher

Sharon Kay,
Hi my name is Mollie and I haven't had the time to slow down even long
enough to welcome you to our Dickson List.. And now I read this about the
death of a Loved one..
I am so sorry for you , I know how hard it is to lose someone quckly and
also to watch someone waste away..
The hurt does not differ if it is unexpected or if you know it coming.. And
it is never easy to lose a parent.. When I was little I used to think my
mom and dad were invincible,
but as I grew up I saw that there were not.. My father died in 1967 and I
lost my mom in 1997 .. My dad had cancer and my mom was very unexpected..
She went in to nursing home for rehab from Pneumonia , one that I worked at
, and passed away..
So I do know what you are speaking of.. But just know that Our list not only
concentrates on Genealogy but also we care about each other, that is the
only way I know to explain it.. So welcome to our "family"
Mollie
