Joan, the Reddens did indeed live in the Piney River region of
southwestern Dickson Co./northwestern Hickman Co.

John Sevier Redden, born 28 Mar 1817; died 23 Feb 1901; married in
Hickman Co. on 14 Mar 1841 to Elizabeth McMinn, born 23 July 1821; died
13 Oct 1870. Twelve children:
1. Louisa Jane, born 19 Jan 1842; died 21 Feb. 21 1881; married John

2. John Wiley, born 27 Nov 1843; died ?; married Nancy Jane Dunnigan
3. Sarah Eveline, born 28 July 1846; died 6 Dec 1866; married Robert D.

(Names and birthdates came from the Redden family Bible, as found in
"Bible Records of Dickson County, Tennessee" published by Dickson Co.
Historical Society.) John and Elizabeth are buried in the Redden family
Cemetery (property of Kenneth Work in 1979); not to be mistaken for THE
Redden Cemetery, on Hwy. 48 in Hickman Co. His stone
says: "Father is gone but not forgotten."
Her stone says: " Those that sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him."


Wiley Blount Redden, born 27 June 1820; died 5 Sept 1902; married in
Hickman Co. 25 Feb 1847 to Mary Jane McMinn, born 28 Dec 1825 Bedford Co.
TN; died 2 June 1882.
Only 2 known children:
1. Mary S., born Dec 1847; married James Henry Yates
2. Mamie Palestine, born 2 Oct 1849; died 10 June 1932; married Thomas
Jennings Work


John Sevier Redden and Wiley Blount Redden are the sons of John Valentine
Redden; born 18 Mar 1780; died between 1827-1830 Dickson Co. TN; married
in Barren Co. KY to Lucinda Dickens, born 22 July 1784 in KY; died
between 1860-1870 in Dickson Co. TN. John and Wiley also had a sister,
Elizabeth, who married Oliver McMinn.

John Valentine Redden is the son of John Redden, born 1755 VA; died after
1790 SC; and his wife, Sidney Sevier, born 1755 VA; died 5 Nov 1841
