Thanks for all the nice messages! Yes, last night was wonderful. The
rollercoaster I live on has taken a plunge this morning.
My best and dearest friend woke up to find her husband had died. She is
still in shock. His health was better than it's been in years and he had no
complaints. Ann worked for her husband all their married life until 2 years
ago when she "retired". Last year, he "retired". They also had her mother
living with them until a few years ago when they lost her. Ann never had
children--said she wasn't "maternal" and didn't think she would be a good
mother. (She loved kids but liked for them to go home, too!) Bill and
"Mama" always said that they were glad Ann had me because she was too busy
taking care of them to make friends and I was the only one that understood.
(She and I used to sneak off together---tell Bill and Gary that we were
going shopping! They would cover for us when "Mama" called looking for Ann!
It was the only time Ann ever went anywhere without her mother.)
Anyway, the rollercoaster was near the top last night and close to the
bottom this morning. But, that's the way my life has always been!
It's just going to take a few days longer to get a copy of that census
record and do some research in Bowling Green. I can wait a few more days!
Thanks for all the "good cheer"!
