You are correct in assuming that the message caught my attention! Daniel
Harkleroad is the 1/2 brother of Sarah Harkleroad. Their father was Henry
Harkleroad who reportedly owned most of what is now Bristol VA/TN and Bluff
City TN. (I don't have copies of these deeds but will let you know when I
get them.) Daniel was born 18 Dec 1769 in Lancaster County, PA and died in
1840 in the Memphis area. He was known to have been in Memphis, TN,
Arkansas, and Missouri--besides Dickson County, TN.

It has also been reported that Jesse Bartee was in the same area of East
Tennessee and perhaps knew the Harkleroad family.

The lady I was talking to on the instant messenger was accepted into the DAR
today. She works fast! She is in contact with the DAR chapter that put the
marker on Henry's grave.
