I had intended to tell you that, but got so carried away with describing what
they did, I forgot to put it in there, so her tis';
There was company in Chicago that named Gandy Manufacturing, that back in the
early times made about all the tools used by section gangs, as a result they
were referred to as "Gandy Dancers". Now I can assure you this explanation
will stand up to scrutiny.
Of course the tools made the name "Gandy" for the "dancing around" when they
were lining track resulted in the name "Gandy Dancer"
