Good morning to all!

I spoke to an elderly gentleman in Bryant's Hollow yesterday. I say elderly
because he is 82 years old. This man grew up on the farm that adjoined my
great-grandfather's farm where my grandmother was born.

He knew most of my family that lived around Marion and when sharing his
memories of living a mile and a half from that community, he mentioned the
Mineral RR that ran through Marion.

One of his fondest memories from his childhood was to sit and listen to the
old steam engine chug and chug up to Marion from Lone Oak, as it was "uphill
all the way and that little engine had to really work" and then listen to
the "toot-toot" of the whistle as the train approached Marion.

Kids those days were more easily amused than those children of today, it
seems.
