Jan is still outta Dodge ~~you know that means I get to share with you
again~!
While I dont believe everthing I hear...nor do I believe everything I say!
I am just a musing...and a ponderin'...about things... Hope you will ponder
with me...
Cher

Well we survived ... are you surprised? With minor glitches that occur
almost daily anyway... I think the events of Y2K were uneventful.. and
aren't we glad? Glad it is true that there was no BIG event, and glad it is
over, and even more glad the media will find something else to rattle bones
at and shake feathers and whisper incantations at...

I keep reflecting on my family past. My dear Uncle Hardy and Aunt Myrt had a
home in Dry Hollow. They were resourceful and hard working people. Uncle
Hardy installed indoor plumbing for the kitchen and bathroom.... using
gravity flow spring water. His spring was at a higher elevation than the
house...His toilet flushed, faucets ran..and the washer filled within a
reasonable time. They had canned goods, frozen food, cured meat, root
cellared goods like taters and turnips.
He did have electricity in the house but, he could have easily done with out
it.. as their canning skills were unrivaled. They had a very simple
life..no TV, minimal contact with the media... read the paper... but, read
the 'Good Book' more. Their life was a life of servitude.. of God, Family
and community.. No time for Y2K... or such nonsense...
If they were here today.. their lives would not have been affected by the
falderal that we witnessed over the past months.

While I enjoy technology.... I can't help but think how much more focused
their lives were.. their opinions were really based on their own
perceptions... not something spoon fed to them by the hype of a media gone
nuts...
Our local news generates fluff to fill their time slots each day.... they
tell us how to react, what to think...voicing their biased opinions...
adding their own inflections to their voices to guide us into their way of
thinking.. Why can't they just some day come on the air at 5:00 and admit
there is nothing NEWS worthy today. Wouldn't that be a breath of fresh air?
Or get on the radio or TV and be like Walter Cronkite, Edward R.
Murrow..ah... or even as Sgt. Joe Friday used to say," Just the facts,
Mame. Just stick to the facts". Now that would be a revelation!

Nuff said.
