Carol Wells' abstracts of early Dickson minute books
(ca. 1816-17) refer to the 'nine mile tree" on the road
from Charlotte to Vernon. Does anyone know the precise
location of this "nine mile tree?"
Also, what was the minimum age for a man (or boy) to
be assigned to road work in that era?
