Hi all,
Is there anyone out there who can help me with this Caruthers line? I
understand there are not too many surviving records for Dickson Co. Is this
correct? I have checked all of the land records and marriage records that
are available at Salt Lake, and was wondering if any other records exist.
The earliest record I have for John Caruthers Jr. was in Dickson Co. in July
of 1812 where he sold a slave. In 1815 he was party to a deed for 40 acres
on the headwaters of Leatherwood Creek, part of a grant issued by the State
of TN to John Caruthers 19 Sep 1814, #6025. There is also a record for the
sale of 130 acres of land a week later by John. John's sister, Elizabeth,
married Joseph Thomas in Dickson Co. TN 16 Apr 1816. I next pick up the
family in Arkansas years later. If anyone knows of any other information is
available for Dickson, please let me know.
