Hello Dickson County cuzzins,
I'm looking to correspond with and descendants of the John R. Cathey, who
settled on land grants in Dickson County in the 1820's. My known ancestor is
Morris Cathey, married to Martha (?) in Dickson County around 1850 or so.
Martha was born in Kentucky in 1837, according to the 1900 Hill County, Texas,
census. Morris was 34 on the 1860 Dickson Co., TN, census. He and Martha were
living near Jennie Cathey, James Cathey, and other descendants of John R.
One the 1850 census of Dickson Co., Morris was single, living with Wm. J.
Cathy, age 9, Jane Cathey, age 44, and Margarett Cathey, age 66. This
Margarett Cathey was the widow of John R. Cathey.
I'm trying to find Morris's parents. Were they John R. and Martha, or
was he the illegitimate son of Jane Cathey, daughter of John R. and Martha.
