Ex-Mill Foreman Dies At 89
Miss. Maude Phillips,89,of Hillvale Rd.,Clinton Rt.1,died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday at Lake City Hospital
of pneumonia.She had been a patient at the Lake City Convalescent Nursing Home for two years.
An employe of Magnet Mills Inc.for 40 years,she served as foreman of the finishing department.
Miss. Phillips was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church.A native of Anderson County,she was
the daughter of the late Sherman and Alice Phillips.Survivors include a sister,Mrs. Lizzie Mae Hillon
of Charlotte,N.C.and three brothers,Beckham Phillips and Virgil Phillips of Clinton Rt.1, and Vestal Phillips
of San Antonio,Tex.Funeral services are to be held Thursday (today) at 2:30 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral
Home with the Rev.J.C. Parrish officiating.Burial is to be in Norris Memorial Gardens.

Hendren,Ex-Knitter,Dies At 82
John M. Hendren,82, of Hendren Rd., Clinton Rt.5,died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Knoxville Recovery Center
of a stroke.He was formerly employed as a knitter by Magnet Mills Inc.He was a member of the Baptist Church
and enjoyed hunting.A native of Clinton area he was the son of the late, Charles A.and Rebecca Seivers Hendren.
He leaves a brother,Jacob Hendren of Janesville,Wisc.Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday at the
Hendren Cemetery near his home with the Rev.Joe Bridges officiating.

Funeral services for William Earl Scarbrough Jr.,of Norcross,Ga.,were held at 2p.m. Monday at
R.T. Patterson Funeral Home in Norcross.Burial was at North Atlanta Memorial Park.The
Rev.W.L. Thomas of Clinton and the Rev.Rhett Baird of Atlanta officiated.Mr. Scarbrough 47,died
of lung disease Friday at St.Jospeh's Hospital in Atlanta.He was a native of the Pee Wee community
in Campbell County.Mr. Scarbrough attended Anderson County schools and was a member of Pine Grove
Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Lorie Scarbrough,five children, LInda Anders and Chip Scarbrough
of London,Ky.,Angel, Dawn and William E Scarbough III (Billy) of Norcross, grandchildren, Matthew Anders of
London,Ky.,and Jessica Maddox of Norcross, parents, William Earl and Helen Scarbrough of Clinton,
brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Martha Scarbrough, Henry and Iva Scarbrough and Delius and Etta Scarbrough
all of Clinton, Gene and Kathy Scarbrough of Jacksboro, Roger and Diane Scarbrough and Bobby Scarbrough
lf Norcross, J.D. and Pat Scarbrough of Gastonia,N.C., Michael Scarbrough of Winder,Ga.,Chuck and Carol Scarbrough
of McDoanld,Ga.,sister and brother-in-law,Nancy and Michael Lowe of Clinton, several nieces and nephews.
