Mrs. Beets,38, Succumbs To Aneurysm
Mrs. Mary Lou Collins Beets,38, of Landrum Rd., Clinton Rt.2, died unexpectedly last Thursday afternoon
of an aneurysm at Presbyterian Hospital in Knoxville.She was born in the Medford community and was a
member of Clinch River Baptist Church.Mrs. Beets enjoyed sewing,camping and fishing.Besides her husband
Kenneth Beets,Mrs. Beets is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Beets of Streetsboro,Ohio.,four sons,
Kenneth W. Beets of Streetsboro,Thomas E. Beets of St. Albana,W.Va.,Partrick H and Joseph both of Clay,W.Va.,
mother, Mrs. Lucille Foust of Clinton,and four brother,Eugene Foust of Clinton,Rt.1,R.L. and Paul Foust,both of
Lake City,and David Foust of the U.S. Air Force.Funeral services were held Sunday at the Clinch River Baptist
Church with the Revs.Bill E. Lamb and Gary Parker officiating.Burial was in Foust Cemetery.

Turner 68,Operator Of Market Dies
A merchant and former ironworker,William Glen Turner, 68,of the Medford community,Lake City,Rt.1,
died of cancer Sunday afternoon at the University Hospital in Knoxville.Turner was the operator of
Turner's Market in Clinton until he became ill.He enjoyed hunting,riding horseback and being with
family and friends as well as meeting people at his place of business.Turner was raised on his family's
farm between Clinton and Lake City.He was a coal miner before he became an ironworker for several years
in various states.He was a member of ironworkers union local no.384 in Knoxville.
He is survived by his wife,Mrs.Evelyn Sharp Turner,three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Brenda) Cooper of Clinton,
Mrs. John (Lana) Wormsley of Shererville,Ind.,and Mrs. James E. (Cookie) Turner of Knoxville,
two sons, Brent Turner of Clinton and Kent Turner of Lake City, eight grandchildren, four sisters,
Pearl Adner, Minnie Hamilton,both of Lake City,and Vandalee Carden and Irene Duncan, voth of Clinton,
and two brothers, Joe Turner of Cleveland, Ohio.,and Ulys Turner of Clinton. Funeral services were
held Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Lake City.The Revs.Bill Davis and Gary Parker officiating.
Burial was in Clinch River Cemetery.

Alice (Granny) Massengill
Alice Sharp( Granny) Massengill,101,of Rt.1,Lake City,died on Wednesday,Sept. 19,at the Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.In 1954,she was preceded in death by her husband, John Massengill whom
she married in January 1916.Mrs.Massengill was a native of Campbell County and lived in the Clear Branch
Community of Lake City.Survivors include a daughter, Josephine Roach of Lake City, a son, Lester Massengill
of Detroit,Mich.,five grandchildren, Mary Beauregard of Mandeville,La.,Michael Massengill and Steven Massengill
and Maureen Massengill all of Detroit, and Joann Roach of Lake City, and one sister, Esther Johnson of Lake City.
The funeral service was held on Friday at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with the Rev.George Delozier,
the Rev.James E. Harness Jr and Rev.Howard Robbins officiating.The burial was 11 a.m. on Saturday in the
Clinch River Cemetery.

Mary Jane Duncan Wilson
Mary Jane Duncan Wilson, 65,of Laurel Grove community near Briceville,died Wednesday,Sept.26,at her home.
A lifelong resident of Anderson County.Wilson was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed
gardening, canning,sewing and quilting.She is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Belle Phillips Duncan,
three brothers, Jimmy, Harvey and Albert,and a sister, Polly Seiber. Survivors include, Mrs. Wilson's huband,
Judge Wilson of Laurel Grove. two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Sheila Duncan and Ralph and Lorene Duncan
of Oliver Springs, daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Henry Hester of Oliver Springs, Brenda and Tommy Boruff
of Knoxville,Shirley Wilson Brown of Briceville,Joyce Wilson of Clinton, and Susie Wilson of Briceville, and two sisters,
Winnie Ward and Ellen Byrge of Lafollette.Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Friday at the Mountain View
Baptist Church with the Rev.Warner Hawkins and the Rev.George Miller officiating.Burial will be in the Mountain
View Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral.The family will receive friends from 6 to 9p.m. on Thursday
at the chapel of the Martin Funeral Home of Lake City.
