Cecil B. Lindsay, 78, of Monroe died at 11:19
p.m., Saturday 22 Oct. 2005, at Mercy Memorial
Hospital. He had been ill for four months.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from 1
to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Allore Funeral Home, where
services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The
Rev. Roy Souterland, pastor of Monroe Missionary
Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in
Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, under the
auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
Born Jan. 17, 1927, in Jacksboro, Tenn., he was
the son of Charlie and Etta ( White ) Lindsay. He
married Virginia M. Leinhart on Nov. 4, 1950. she
died in 1978. He then married Nellie Marie
Carroll on Sept. 2, 1978. She died Jan. 07 2003.
For more than 25 years he was a machine operator
for Jefferson-Smurfit of Monroe, retiring in
1992. He also had worked for Union Camp.
Mr. Lindsay served the Army National Guard.
He was a member of Monroe Lodge 1503, Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks and enjoyed gardening
and fishing.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth ( Lisa ) of
Monroe and William ( Barb ) of Boulder Springs,
Texas; a brother, Willard ( Carol ) of Lebanon,
INd.; a sister, Arizona ( Wallace ) Lewis of
Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in
death ba a son, Donald, and a great-grandson.
