JOHNSON, EARL D. "COTTON" - age 92 of Lake City, TN,
PHILLIPS, ITRESS RUTH MARIE HUNTER - age 76 of Lake City, TN,
ROOP, EVA CAMPBELL - age 74, of Clinton,
JOHNSON, EARL D. "COTTON" - age 92 of Lake City, TN, passed away Sunday,
October 30, 2005, at the Tri-County Extended Care Facility in Fairfield, Ohio. He
was born October 19, 1913 in Anderson County, TN to the late Hugh & Bertha
Pickle Johnson. He was a member of the Lake City Christian Fellowship. Cotton was
a retired Coal Miner and member of the UMWA. He is preceded in death by: his
parents; wife, Mary Elizabeth Housley Johnson; daughter-in- law, Senie
Johnson; and niece, Betty Jo Johnson. Survivors: son, Roy D. Johnson, Cincinnati,
Ohio; grandchildren, Rick Johnson, Cincinnati, Ohio, Leroy Johnson, Cincinnati,
Ohio, Scott Johnson, Cincinnati, Ohio, Patricia Rudder, Cincinnati, Ohio, Lois
Ann Barker, Florida. Visitation 6- 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the
Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at
the Lake City Christian Fellowship with Pastor Justin Phillips officiating.
Interment to follow the funeral service at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City,
TN. Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
PHILLIPS, ITRESS RUTH MARIE HUNTER - age 76 of Lake City, TN, passed away
October 30, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born
January 11, 1929 in Petros, TN to the late Herbert and Pauline Dorothy Martin
Hunter. Ruth was a member of the Clinch River Baptist Church. She loved gardening,
flowers, reading, cooking and especially her grandchildren. Ruth is preceded
in death by: her parents; and husband, Alonzo "Lonnie" Phillips. Survivors:
sons, Herbert W. Phillips, Georgia; Lonnie Phillips, Jr., Lake City, TN; Robert
S. Phillips, Knoxville, TN; David W. Phillips, Ohio; daughters, Oma & Jerry
Taylor, Ohio; Dorothy M. Phillips, Lake City, TN; Shirley & David Hatmaker,
Ohio; Mary & Dennis Leinart, Briceville, TN; Karen E. Taylor, Lake City, TN;
Barbie & Mark Williams, Lake City, TN; Shara & Kevin Dunbar, Ohio; brother, J.R.
Hunter, Petros, TN; sister, Della Hunter, Petros, TN; 40 grandchildren; 46 great
grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Visitation 6- 9:00 pm Tuesday,
November 1, 2005 and 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the Clinch River
Baptist Church in Lake City, TN. Funeral service 8 pm Wednesday, November 2,
2005 at the Clinch River Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. The
Interment will be private. Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of
arrangements.
ROOP, EVA CAMPBELL - age 74, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, November 1,
2005 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. She was a member of Second Baptist
Church in Clinton and a lifetime member of Eastern Star-May Chapter 24. Eva is
preceded in death by parents, Loyd and Lula Campbell; brothers, Glen, Eugene
and Roy Campbell. Survivors: husband, Dewey Roop of Clinton; daughter, Pamela
Roop of Knoxville; sisters, Maxine Robinson of Knoxville; Nelda & husband Ray
Howard of Lenoir City; sisters-in- law, Reba Campbell of Sweetwater, Elsie
Shipley of Bristol; brothers-in-law, Rev. Bill Roop & wife of Knoxville, Kenneth
Roop & wife Faye of Knoxville, David Roop & wife Martha of Knoxville; several
nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday,
November 3, 2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in
the chapel with Rev. Mike Thompson and Rev. George Williams officiating. Her
burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
